Serene Interiors – Vastu

UnCategorized The most ancient science of architecture, which takes us back to the Vedic ages, is Vastu Shastra. It is composed of certain rules and regulations, which were known to have been set down by the sages of those times and which were expected to be followed religiously in order to avoid any sort of negative or evil influences. But, today it is looked upon as a highly evolved, comprehensive building philosophy in which directions and shapes are the most vital aspects of designing. Vastu is the science of direction that combines all the five elements of nature and as well balances them with human beings and the material. The world comprises of five basic elements, also known as the Paanchbhootas. They are Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Space. Out of the nine planets, our planet has life because of the presence of these five elements. The five elements can be briefly discussed as follows: 1.Earth (Bhumi): The third planet in the solar system, the Earth, is a big magnet with North and South poles as centre of attraction. The Earth’s magnetic field and gravitational force lays its influence upon everything, whether living or non-living. 2.Water (Jal): It forms part of every plant and animal and is represented by rain, river, and sea and is in the form of liquid. 3.Air (Vaayu): As a life supporting element, air is very powerful life source. Human physical comfort values are directly and sensitively dependent on correct humidity, air flow, temperature of air, air pressure, air composition and its content. 4.Fire (Sun): t represents light and heat without which the life will extinct. All the days and nights, seasons, energy, enthusiasm, passion, vigor is because of light and heat only. 5.Space (Akash): The shelter provider to all the above elements. According to Vastu, the natives worshipping and respecting the lords of the following eight directions will be showered with blessings and benefits: a.Eshan (Northeast): Wisdom, knowledge, comforts and relief from all sufferings is granted. b.Indra (East): Wealth and all sorts of pleasures are given. c.Agni/Fire (Southeast): He gives us beautiful personality. d.Yamaa or Yamaha (South): Evils are waived off and goodness is showered upon. e.Nissan or Niruti (Southwest): He eradicates fear about our enemies. f.Varun (West): Brings prosperity and pleasure in life. g.Vayu/Wind (Northwest): He bestows on us long life, health and strength. h.Kuber (North): He is the lord of wealth and thus grants us wealth and all the comforts of life. There are some basic favorable and unfavorable directions which we use in our daily lives. They are as follows: 1.Water Bodies: In north or east are considered good. 2.Shape of plot: Regular, rectangular and irregular shaped plots are generally avoided. 3.Obstruction: Big trees, walls, pillars and posts in front of a house need to be avoided. 4.Ideal site: In a square plot, the house should be constructed in the centre, whereas in a rectangular plot, construction should preferably be o the south, southwest or west sides. Right from the selection of site to correct slope of land down to the shape of the building, this oldest form of architecture covers nearly every aspect of construction. Not only for houses but temples, palaces, forts and offices, but the principles of Vastu Shastra is used in every possible form of construction. Often providing relief if not cures to physical or emotional problems simply by relocating an entrance, window or room. About the Author: 相关的主题文章:
